The new Aria Suite (1-2-1 with closing door, on retrofitted 777-300ERs), the A350 reverse-herringbone cabin, and arguably the best airline-lounge experience in the world at Hong Kong. Honest assessment of what flying Cathay Business is actually like in 2026.

## How good is Cathay Pacific Business Class in 2026?

Cathay Pacific Business Class is a consistent global top-10 product: A350 reverse-herringbone lie-flat today, with the new Aria Suite (1-2-1 with closing door) on retrofitted 777-300ERs, including selected San Francisco and Los Angeles flights. The real differentiator is Hong Kong - The Pier and The Wing lounges with Ilse Crawford design, Noodle Bar dim sum, and shower suites. LAX–HKG Business books at $3,800–$4,600 round-trip through a consolidator.

## The 60-second verdict

- ✓ **Consistently top-10 globally.** Lie-flat, refined design, world-class lounges at Hong Kong, Asian-fusion food program that is genuinely excellent.
- ✓ **The Pier and The Wing lounges at HKG.** Ilse Crawford design, Noodle Bar dim sum, Tea House, shower suites. Worth routing through Hong Kong just for the lounge.
- ✓ **Aria Suite closes the hard-product gap.** The new 1-2-1 cabin with closing doors (on retrofitted 777-300ERs since late 2024) is competitive with Qatar Qsuite.
- ! **Check frequency for your gateway.** Cathay flies non-stop from JFK, BOS, ORD, DFW, LAX, SFO and SEA, but Seattle is five times weekly and some routes change frequency by season.

Deep review

## What flying Cathay Business is actually like

### The A350 reverse-herringbone cabin

Cathay's A350-900 and A350-1000 Business cabin is a Cirrus-style reverse-herringbone (each seat angles away from the aisle toward the window or fuselage). No closing door but the seat shell provides excellent privacy. Bed length is 79 inches, width is 21 inches in bed mode, full lie-flat. The cabin design (Ilse Crawford influence) is genuinely refined, dark wood accents, Bang & Olufsen audio, ambient lighting. Among the most polished Business cabins without doors.

### The Aria Suite (new cabin, 777-300ER)

Aria Suite launched in October 2024 on retrofitted Boeing 777-300ERs, with the retrofit program due to finish by the end of 2027. 1-2-1 with closing doors per suite, a 78-inch bed, a 24-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth headphone pairing and wireless charging. Closes the door-gap to Qatar Qsuite. In the US it flies on San Francisco (since January 2026) and selected Los Angeles flights (since April 2026); verify aircraft on every quote, because a 777-300ER listing alone does not guarantee Aria Suite.

### The catering

Cathay catering is genuinely excellent. Multi-course Asian-fusion menus rotating between Cantonese, Japanese, Western options. Hot dim sum service on some flights. Strong wine list curated by Hong Kong sommeliers. Pre-departure Champagne service (real Champagne). The food alone is a competitive advantage on transpacific Business; only ANA, Singapore, and Qatar are clearly ahead.

### Hong Kong lounges: The Pier and The Wing

Two flagship Business lounges at HKG: The Pier (Business) with Ilse Crawford design, the famous Noodle Bar (dim sum + noodles made-to-order), the Tea House, Long Bar, shower suites. The Wing (Business) at the other end of the terminal, similar quality with a different aesthetic. The Pier (First) for First Class passengers offers private cabanas with personal day suites, arguably the best airline lounge service globally. Open to Cathay Business Class passengers + Oneworld Sapphire/Emerald.

## Frequently asked

### Is Cathay Pacific Business Class good?

Yes, consistently among the top 10 Business Class products globally. The A350-900 and A350-1000 reverse-herringbone Business cabin is widely respected (lie-flat, excellent privacy without closing doors, refined cabin design). The new Aria Suite (on retrofitted 777-300ERs since late 2024) adds closing doors and is competitive with Qatar Qsuite. Soft product, food, and lounges are uniformly excellent.

### What is the Cathay Pacific Aria Suite?

Aria Suite is Cathay's newest Business Class cabin, launched in October 2024 on retrofitted Boeing 777-300ERs. Features a 1-2-1 lie-flat layout with closing doors per suite (a first for Cathay Business Class), a 78-inch bed, a 24-inch 4K screen, Bluetooth headphone pairing and wireless charging. In the US it flies on San Francisco (since January 2026) and selected Los Angeles flights (since April 2026); verify aircraft on quotes.

### Which Cathay aircraft has the new Aria Suite?

In 2026, Aria Suite is on Cathay's retrofitted Boeing 777-300ERs (17 converted by mid-2026, with the program due to finish by the end of 2027). The A350-900 and A350-1000 fleet keeps the previous-generation Cirrus reverse-herringbone Business cabin (no closing door but excellent privacy and lie-flat comfort), and Cathay has no firm plan to fit Aria Suite to the A350. The A330 is getting a separate regional seat, Aria Studio, which has no door. Both cabins are competitive Business Class products; Aria has the door advantage.

### Which routes does Cathay fly Business Class to from the US?

In 2026, Cathay Pacific flies non-stop Business Class to Hong Kong from seven US gateways: New York JFK, Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle (five times weekly since March 2026). Frequencies vary by season; Cathay does not fly from Newark or Washington Dulles. From Hong Kong, onward Business Class to anywhere in Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, plus a strong Africa and Middle East network.

### Is Cathay The Pier lounge good?

Yes, world-class. The Pier (Business) at Hong Kong is one of the most beautiful Business Class lounges globally, with Ilse Crawford design, the famous Noodle Bar (dim sum, noodles), the Tea House, and shower suites. The Pier (First) is the upper-tier lounge with private cabanas, sit-down dining, and arguably the best airline lounge service in the world. Worth allowing 90+ minutes layover to experience properly.

### How does Cathay compare to ANA and Singapore Airlines?

All three are top-10 Business Class products globally. ANA The Room (777-300ER) is the largest seat and most iconic suite layout. Singapore 2017 Business is uniformly refined with strong service. Cathay reverse-herringbone is the slimmest of the three but has the strongest lounge ecosystem in Hong Kong. Aria Suite (on retrofitted 777-300ERs) adds doors and closes the gap on hard product. Food: Cathay's Asian-fusion catering is genuinely excellent.

### How much does Cathay Pacific Business Class cost?

Published Business Class on West Coast → HKG round-trip typically runs $6,000 – $9,500 in peak season, $5,000 – $7,500 off-peak. Through a contracted consolidator, LAX-HKG Business round-trip is regularly $3,800 – $4,600 in shoulder season. East Coast routes (when operating non-stop) typically $4,200 – $5,200.

### Can I use Asia Miles or American AAdvantage for Cathay Business?

Yes. Asia Miles (Cathay's own program, Oneworld) is the cheapest currency at ~85,000-110,000 miles + $200-400 one-way. Transfers from Amex Membership Rewards and Citi ThankYou at 1:1. American AAdvantage runs 110,000+ miles. BA Avios works but with high surcharges. Saver inventory opens 6-11 months ahead, Cathay is generally good about award availability.
