## Is SAS Business Class worth it in 2026?

SAS Business Class on the A350-900 and A330-300 is a staggered 1-2-1 lie-flat seat with direct aisle access for everyone, flying non-stop to Copenhagen from about ten US cities and from New York to Oslo and Stockholm. SAS joined SkyTeam in 2024, so it now partners with Delta and Air France-KLM. A few routes use the narrow-body A321LR, where paired seats lack aisle access.

- SkyTeam member since September 2024 (left Star Alliance)
- A350-900: 40 Business seats, staggered 1-2-1, 78-inch bed
- A330-300: 32 Business seats, staggered 1-2-1
- Seattle is summer only; Miami is winter only

## The 60-second verdict

- **Direct aisle access on the widebodies.** (strength): The A350-900 and A330-300 both use the Thompson Vantage XL seat in a staggered 1-2-1 layout, fully flat with direct aisle access from every seat. The A350 adds an 18-inch screen and a 78-inch bed.
- **A broad US network.** (strength): SAS flies to Copenhagen from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Washington Dulles, Los Angeles, San Francisco and the New York area, with Seattle in summer and Miami in winter, and links New York to Oslo and Stockholm as well.
- **Now aligned with Delta.** (strength): Since joining SkyTeam in September 2024, SAS connects with Delta and Air France-KLM, including its newer routes to the Delta hubs in Atlanta and Seattle.
- **Some flights use the A321LR.** (mixed): SAS has three narrow-body A321LRs with 22 lie-flat seats in alternating 2-2 and 1-1 rows. Window passengers in the paired rows step over a neighbor, so we check the aircraft on every quote.
- **No doors, and fewer points options.** (mixed): No SAS Business seat has a privacy door, and EuroBonus does not take transfers from the major US bank programs, so most US travelers book SAS with cash or partner miles.

## The A350 and A330 Business cabin

SAS Business on its long-haul widebodies is the Thompson Vantage XL seat in a staggered 1-2-1 layout: 40 seats on the A350-900 and 32 on the A330-300. Every seat converts to a flat bed and has direct aisle access, and the A350 version adds an 18-inch HD touchscreen and a 78-inch bed.

Because the layout is staggered, some window seats sit right against the window and others closer to the aisle. Solo travelers usually prefer the true window seats; we can request specific rows.

## The A321LR exception

SAS flies three narrow-body A321LRs across the Atlantic on some routes. Business has 22 lie-flat seats in alternating 2-2 and 1-1 rows, with a 73-inch bed. The single seats are excellent; window passengers in the paired rows lack direct aisle access.

## US network and seasons

SAS serves Copenhagen non-stop from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Washington Dulles, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, with Seattle in summer and Miami in winter. New York also has non-stops to Oslo and Stockholm, across Newark and JFK.

For winter 2026/27 SAS is adding about 70% more seats to Boston, 20% to San Francisco and 10% to Chicago, and two more A350s join the long-haul fleet. Atlanta moved to the A350 in June 2026.

## SkyTeam, ownership and EuroBonus

SAS left Star Alliance on August 31, 2024 and joined SkyTeam the next day. Air France-KLM, already a shareholder, has agreed to take a majority stake, subject to EU approval. Since the switch, EuroBonus points can be used on SkyTeam partners such as Delta, Air France and KLM.

EuroBonus does not take transfers from Amex, Chase, Citi or Capital One. US travelers who want to use points usually book SAS through a SkyTeam partner program; otherwise a contracted cash fare is the simplest route.

## Lounges in Copenhagen

The SAS Lounge in Copenhagen Terminal 3 serves Schengen departures. US flights leave from the non-Schengen area, so confirm which lounge you can use for your departure when you book. SAS has announced a much larger flagship lounge in Copenhagen for June 2027.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does SAS Business Class cost from the US?

SAS fares vary widely by gateway and season, so we quote them per date. Contracted fares typically come in 30-60% below the published SAS fare for the same flight, and the winter shoulder months price lowest.

### Which US cities have non-stop SAS flights?

SAS flies non-stop to Copenhagen from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Washington Dulles, Los Angeles, San Francisco and the New York area, with Seattle in summer and Miami in winter. From New York it also flies to Oslo and Stockholm.

### Is SAS in Star Alliance or SkyTeam?

SkyTeam. SAS left Star Alliance on August 31, 2024 and joined SkyTeam on September 1, 2024, so it now partners with Delta, Air France and KLM rather than United or Lufthansa.

### Does SAS Business Class have direct aisle access?

On the A350-900 and A330-300, yes: a staggered 1-2-1 layout where every seat reaches the aisle. On the three A321LRs that fly some transatlantic routes, Business alternates 2-2 and 1-1 rows, so window passengers in the paired rows step over a neighbor.

### Can I use points for SAS Business Class?

EuroBonus does not take transfers from the major US bank programs, so most US travelers book SAS awards through SkyTeam partners when award space is released. Otherwise a contracted cash fare is usually the simplest option.
