## Is TAP Air Portugal Business Class worth it in 2026?

TAP Air Portugal Business Class is lie-flat on every US route and best on the A330-900neo, a staggered 1-2-1 cabin with direct aisle access for every seat. The narrow-body A321LR and older A330-200 have paired seats, so check the aircraft. Contracted New York-Lisbon fares run $2,400-$2,900 round-trip in shoulder season, and TAP adds a free stopover of up to 10 days in Lisbon or Porto.

## The 60-second verdict

- **Lie-flat on every US route.** (strength): All three aircraft TAP flies to the US (A330-900neo, A330-200 and A321LR) have lie-flat Business seats. The A330-900neo is the one to aim for: a staggered 1-2-1 Recaro cabin where every seat has direct aisle access.
- **A free stopover in Portugal.** (strength): The Portugal Stopover adds up to 10 days in Lisbon or Porto, outbound or return, at no extra airfare on cash fares routed through either city. It turns a Europe trip into two destinations for the same Business fare.
- **Easy to earn and burn from the US.** (strength): TAP is in Star Alliance, and its Miles&Go program takes 1:1 transfers from Capital One and Bilt, so US travelers have several ways to book it with points.
- **The seat depends on the aircraft.** (mixed): The A321LR (Porto-Boston, Porto-Newark and some Lisbon flights) alternates 2-2 and 1-1 "throne" rows, and the A330-200 alternates 1-2-2 and 1-2-1, so paired seats lack direct aisle access. We confirm the aircraft on every quote.
- **No doors.** (mixed): No TAP Business seat has a privacy door. On the A330-900neo the staggered layout still gives solo seats plenty of privacy.

## The A330-900neo cabin

TAP was the launch customer for the A330-900neo, and its 34-seat Business cabin uses the Recaro CL6710 in a staggered 1-2-1 layout. Every seat has direct aisle access and converts to a fully flat bed, with a 16-inch screen and power at each seat.

Center seats alternate between pairs that sit close together, good for couples, and pairs separated by a console. Solo travelers should pick a window seat on a row where the seat sits next to the window.

## A321LR and A330-200: check the row

The A321LR has 16 lie-flat Business seats in alternating 2-2 and 1-1 rows. The single "throne" seats in rows 2 and 4 are the best seats on the plane, with space on both sides; window passengers in the paired rows step over a neighbor to reach the aisle. TAP flies it from Porto to Boston and Newark and on some Lisbon routes.

The A330-200 has 25 Business seats in alternating 1-2-2 and 1-2-1 rows, with throne seats at 3J and 5J. It is a small subfleet, scheduled on some Miami rotations and the Monday Orlando flight from October 2026.

## US network

TAP flies non-stop to Lisbon from New York JFK, Newark, Boston, Washington Dulles, Chicago O'Hare, Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles, with some routes seasonal. Los Angeles returned in May 2025, TAP's first service there since 1990, and Orlando joins on October 29, 2026 with three weekly flights.

From Porto, TAP flies to Boston and Newark on the A321LR. Lisbon connects onward across Europe, Africa and Brazil, which makes TAP a strong one-stop option to cities like Madrid, Barcelona, Paris and Sao Paulo.

## Lounges in Lisbon

US flights leave from the non-Schengen area of Lisbon airport, where the TAP Premium Lounge Atlantico opened in January 2024 with a hot and cold buffet. The larger, refurbished TAP Premium Lounge serves Schengen departures for travelers connecting within Europe.

## Miles and ownership

Miles&Go is TAP's own program and takes 1:1 transfers from Capital One and Bilt. As a Star Alliance member, TAP Business can also be booked with partner programs when award space is released. Stopovers are not available on award tickets.

Portugal is selling a 44.9% stake in TAP in 2026; Air France-KLM and Lufthansa Group submitted final bids on September 30, 2026. TAP remains a Star Alliance member, and we will update this review when the sale is decided.
