Carrier review · 2026

Lie-flat 1-2-1 seats on the 787-9 and A350 (the new Crystal suite with a door is due from November 2026), Do&Co catering, the 5,600 square meter Istanbul Business Lounge, and flights to more countries than any other airline. Honest assessment of what flying Turkish Business is actually like in 2026, and where it beats Emirates and Qatar.

## Is Turkish Airlines Business Class worth flying in 2026?

Turkish Airlines Business Class is the value leader among the big Middle East and European carriers. Today the 787-9 and A350 offer a lie-flat 1-2-1 seat with direct aisle access (no door), paired with Do&Co catering that Skytrax rated the best Business Class catering of 2026. The Crystal suite with a closing door is due on new A350s from November 2026. Istanbul Airport's 5,600 m² Business Lounge anchors a network spanning more countries than any other airline.

- 787-9 and A350: 1-2-1 lie-flat, no door yet
- Do&Co catering: Skytrax best Business catering 2026
- US East Coast to IST: ~$2,400-$3,000 consolidator
- Crystal door suites: new A350s from Nov 2026

## The 60-second verdict

- ✓ **Best-value alternative to the Gulf carriers.** Typically 15-25% below Emirates and Qatar on equivalent US routes.
- ✓ **Do&Co catering is genuinely world-class.** Multi-course Turkish menu, plated by an onboard chef on long-haul flights from Istanbul. Skytrax Best Business Class Onboard Catering 2026.
- ✓ **Istanbul hub unlocks complex itineraries.** Turkish operates one of the world's largest international networks, making IST useful for multi-city Business Class trips.
- ! **Verify aircraft.** The 777-300ER is 2-3-2 lie-flat, so some seats lack aisle access. The 1-2-1 787-9 and A350 are the cabins you want; Crystal door suites start on new A350s from November 2026.

Seats by aircraft

## Which Turkish aircraft has which Business seat

### 787-9 & A350-900 (today)

Staggered 1-2-1 · direct aisle access, no door

The cabin to aim for: a fully flat seat with direct aisle access and an 18-inch screen on the 787-9, but no door. A handful of A350s built for Aeroflot add a sliding door. The new Crystal suite (a door at every seat) is due on new A350 deliveries from November 2026.

### 777-300ER (older cabin)

Legacy Business · 2-3-2, some seats lack aisle access

The trap: a lie-flat seat, but in a 2-3-2 layout where three of every seven seats lack direct aisle access - at the same fare as the 1-2-1 787-9 or A350. Crystal retrofits for the 777s are not expected before 2027 or 2028. If your date shows a 777, check the alternative frequency; we flag the aircraft on every written quote.

Deep review

## What flying Turkish Business is actually like

### The seats today, and Crystal next

On the 787-9 and most A350-900s, Turkish Business is a staggered 1-2-1 lie-flat seat with direct aisle access from every seat but no door; on the 787-9 that means roughly a 76-inch bed, a 20-inch-wide seat and an 18-inch screen. A handful of A350-900s originally built for Aeroflot have a 1-2-1 suite with a sliding door, while the 777-300ER is 2-3-2. The Crystal suite (a sliding door at every seat, 23-inch seat width, 22-inch screen, wireless charging) was unveiled in July 2024 but is not yet flying: Turkish now expects it on new A350 deliveries from November 2026, with 777 retrofits in 2027 or 2028.

### Do&Co catering

Catering from Turkish Do&Co (a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and the Austrian caterer Do&Co) is the soft-product differentiator. Multi-course service with real Turkish cuisine (mezze platter, kebabs, baklava, Turkish coffee), an onboard chef who plates the courses at your seat on long-haul flights from Istanbul (rare in Business Class), and a wine list mixing Turkish and international labels. Skytrax named Turkish the Best Business Class Onboard Catering at its 2026 World Airline Awards.

### The Istanbul Lounge (IST)

The Turkish Airlines Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport covers about 5,600 square meters and seats 765: an open buffet and dining area with Turkish and international dishes, a bar, showers, rest areas, private suite rooms, a children's play area and prayer rooms. It is open to Business Class passengers on Turkish and other Star Alliance airlines flying internationally; Star Alliance Gold members in Economy use the separate Miles&Smiles Lounge. Worth allowing 90+ minutes layover in Istanbul to use it properly.

### The network advantage

Turkish flies to more countries than any other airline, all through Istanbul. For travelers connecting onward from Istanbul to anywhere in Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, or East Africa, Turkish typically offers the most efficient and Business-Class-equipped onward routing.

Beyond our take

## What travelers say on the forums

Independent travelers discussing this cabin in public - the threads worth reading before you book, including the critical ones.

- r/TurkishAirlines on Reddit
Not everyone agrees with the seat-map orthodoxy: this flyer, upgraded into the old 777 cabin, preferred its sheer spaciousness to the newer A350/787 suites. The 2-3-2 layout has real defenders - solo travelers in a window pair especially.

- r/TurkishAirlines on Reddit
The balanced consensus in one thread: the 777 is the older product - expect to sit next to someone - but it is also the most spacious seat Turkish flies. Which trade you prefer decides which frequency to book.

## Frequently asked

### Is Turkish Airlines Business Class good?

Yes, with one caveat: the aircraft. On the 787-9 and most A350-900s you get a lie-flat 1-2-1 seat with direct aisle access but no door (a handful of A350s built for Aeroflot do have sliding doors), Do&Co catering that won Skytrax Best Business Class Onboard Catering for 2026, and the 5,600 m² Istanbul Business Lounge. The 777-300ER is lie-flat but 2-3-2, so some seats have no direct aisle access; verify the aircraft on every quote. The new Crystal suite with a door is due on new A350 deliveries from November 2026.

### What is the Crystal Business cabin on Turkish Airlines?

Crystal Business is Turkish Airlines' next-generation Business Class suite, unveiled in July 2024 and built in-house by its subsidiary TCI. It is a staggered 1-2-1 layout with direct aisle access, a sliding privacy door at every seat, a 23-inch-wide seat, a 22-inch screen and wireless charging. As of October 2026 it is not yet in service: after missing its original 2025 start, Turkish now expects it on newly delivered A350s from November 2026 (A350-900s first, A350-1000s later), with 777-300ER retrofits in 2027 or 2028. There are no firm plans to refit the existing 787-9s or A350-900s, so most US-Istanbul flights will keep today's seats for now.

### Is Turkish Airlines food really that good?

Yes. Flights out of Turkey are catered by Turkish Do&Co, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and the Austrian caterer Do&Co. Business Class gets a multi-course service of real Turkish cuisine (mezze, kebabs, baklava, Turkish coffee) and a wine list of Turkish and international labels, and on long-haul flights from Istanbul an onboard chef plates the courses at your seat. Skytrax named Turkish the Best Business Class Onboard Catering at its 2026 World Airline Awards.

### How does Turkish Airlines compare to Emirates and Qatar?

Emirates A380 Business has the Onboard Lounge advantage (social space + bar) and chauffeur drive in many markets. Qatar Qsuite is the gold standard for hard product (closing-door centre suites with double-bed option). Turkish is competitive on cabin with lie-flat 1-2-1 seats on the 787-9 and A350 (no door until the Crystal suite arrives from November 2026), genuinely strong on food (Do&Co edge), and notably cheaper than both Emirates and Qatar on equivalent US routes by typically 15-25%.

### How much does Turkish Airlines Business Class cost?

Published Business Class on US East Coast → IST round-trip typically runs $3,500 – $5,500 in peak season, $2,800 – $4,400 off-peak. Through a contracted consolidator, JFK-IST Business round-trip is regularly $2,400 – $3,000 in shoulder season. Onward connections from Istanbul to Asia, Africa, and Middle East are typically reasonably priced as add-ons.

### What US routes does Turkish Airlines fly?

In 2026, Turkish Airlines flies non-stop Business Class to Istanbul from 14 US airports: JFK, EWR, BOS, IAD, ATL, MIA, ORD, DTW, IAH, DFW, DEN, LAX, SFO and SEA, with frequencies and aircraft varying by season. From Istanbul, onward Business Class to virtually anywhere in Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia. Turkish operates one of the world's largest international networks, making Istanbul one of the most useful hubs for complex multi-city Business Class itineraries.

### Is the Istanbul Airport Business Class lounge worth using?

Yes. The Turkish Airlines Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport (IST) covers about 5,600 square meters with room for 765 guests: an open buffet and dining area with Turkish and international dishes, a bar, showers, rest areas, private suite rooms, a children's play area and prayer rooms. It is open to Business Class passengers on Turkish and other Star Alliance airlines on international flights; Star Alliance Gold members flying Economy use the separate Miles&Smiles Lounge.

### Can I use Star Alliance miles for Turkish Airlines Business Class?

Yes. Turkish Airlines is a Star Alliance member. One-way Business from the US to Istanbul costs 65,000 miles with Turkish Miles&Smiles plus roughly $200-$250 in fuel surcharges, 75,000 Aeroplan points from the East Coast and most of the Midwest (90,000 from the West Coast) with no fuel surcharges, and usually 88,000 or more United miles under dynamic pricing. Partner availability is often thinner than what Miles&Smiles members see, so confirm space before transferring points.
