Delta One review

Delta's Business Class: the suite with a closing door on the A350 and A330neo, the new Delta One Lounges, a premium transcon product - and a 767 fleet still flying the older cabin on the same fare. What you actually get, aircraft by aircraft, and what it costs through a consolidator.

The 60-second verdict

  • The closing door, before most rivals. Delta One Suite (A350, A330-900neo) pioneered the door among US carriers and it still beats Polaris on privacy.
  • Delta One Lounges. Dedicated premium lounges (JFK, LAX, BOS, SEA) with sit-down dining, exclusively for Delta One passengers - a real step above Sky Clubs.
  • The best premium transcon franchise. JFK-LAX/SFO Delta One is a genuine lie-flat Business product on a domestic route.
  • !Fleet inconsistency. The same Delta One fare can put you in a doored A350 suite or a doorless 767 cabin from 2014. Verify the aircraft on the written quote - this is the single most important check when booking Delta One.
Delta One seats & suites

Which aircraft has which Delta One seat

Airbus A350-900

Delta One Suite · 1-2-1, closing door

The suite that launched the closing-door era in 2017. Long-haul flagship: US-Asia, US-Europe trunk routes.

Airbus A350-1000

Delta One Suite (newest) · 1-2-1, closing door

Newest cabin in the fleet, entering service from 2026 on flagship routes ex-JFK/ATL.

Airbus A330-900neo

Delta One Suite · 1-2-1, closing door

Same suite family as the A350. Heavily used on transatlantic and West Coast-Asia.

Boeing 767-300ER / 767-400ER

Delta One (no door) · 1-2-1, no door

The older cabin: lie-flat with direct aisle access but narrower, and no suite door. Still common on transatlantic.

Boeing 757 (transcon/short international)

Delta One (transcon) · 2-2 lie-flat

JFK-LAX/SFO premium transcon and select routes. Lie-flat, but a 2-2 layout without all-aisle access.

Deep review

What flying Delta One is actually like

The suite

On the A350 and A330-900neo, Delta One is a 1-2-1 suite with a sliding door, full lie-flat bed, direct aisle access from every seat, and a large entertainment screen. Bedding is Westin Heavenly; amenity kits have run designer collaborations (Missoni in recent cycles). Closed, the suite is genuinely private - the benchmark the doorless Polaris cabin is measured against.

The Delta One Lounges

Delta's answer to Polaris Lounges arrived in 2024-2025: dedicated Delta One Lounges at JFK, LAX, BOS, and SEA, with sit-down dining, premium bars, and wellness areas, restricted to Delta One passengers. Where they exist they are excellent; elsewhere you get a Sky Club, which is a buffet-style step down. United still has more flagship-lounge cities; Delta's are newer.

Food, service, connectivity

Multi-course dining with pre-departure sparkling wine, regional menus on flagship routes, and dine-when-you-want flexibility on many services. Wi-Fi is free for SkyMiles members on most of the fleet. Delta's cabin service consistency is regularly rated the best of the US big three - the soft product is a genuine strength.

The 767 caveat - and how to book around it

A large share of transatlantic Delta One flying is still on 767s with the older doorless cabin. The fare class and the brand name are identical to the A350 suite; the experience is not. When we quote Delta One, the aircraft type is stated in writing - if your route offers both, the A350/A330neo departure is nearly always worth a small fare difference.

Frequently asked

Is Delta One business class?

Yes. Delta One is Delta’s Business Class brand on long-haul international and premium transcontinental routes - the top cabin Delta sells, since Delta operates no international First Class. On board that means a lie-flat seat (a closed-door suite on the A350 and A330-900neo), premium dining, and lounge access.

What is business class on Delta called?

Delta One on long-haul international and premium transcon routes (JFK-LAX/SFO). On domestic routes the front cabin is called First Class but is a recliner seat, not lie-flat. Delta Premium Select is premium economy - a separate, lower cabin than Delta One.

Is Delta Premium Select business class?

No. Premium Select is Delta’s premium economy: a wider recliner with more legroom and better meals, but not a lie-flat seat and not Business Class. Delta One is the Business Class cabin. On many routes the paid-fare gap between Premium Select and a consolidator Delta One fare is smaller than travelers expect - always price both.

Delta One vs First Class - which is better?

On Delta, Delta One IS the higher cabin: domestic First Class is a recliner, Delta One is a lie-flat suite. The comparison only feels confusing because other airlines use “First” for their top international cabin. Delta’s hierarchy from top down: Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, Main Cabin.

Which Delta aircraft have Delta One Suites with doors?

The A350-900, the new A350-1000, and the A330-900neo carry the Delta One Suite with a closing door. The 767-300ER and 767-400ER fly the older doorless Delta One, and premium transcon 757s use a 2-2 lie-flat. Same fare, very different cabins - verify the aircraft type on your written quote before paying.

How much does Delta One cost?

Published Delta One on JFK-London typically runs $4,200-$5,800 round-trip in peak season. Through a contracted consolidator, JFK-LHR or BOS-CDG Delta One round-trip regularly prices $2,400-$2,900 in shoulder season - 30-60% below the published fare for the identical seat.

Delta One vs United Polaris - which wins?

Delta One Suite wins on hard product where the door matters (A350/A330neo vs Polaris’ doorless reverse-herringbone) and on the new Delta One Lounges. Polaris wins on lounge network breadth (six Polaris Lounges vs Delta One Lounges in four cities) and on US-international route depth. Through consolidators the two typically price within $100-300 of each other - route and aircraft should decide, not the brand.

Are Delta One awards good value with SkyMiles?

Rarely at Delta’s own dynamic prices, which frequently run 300,000+ SkyMiles round-trip on international Delta One. Partner programs (notably Virgin Atlantic Flying Club) often price the same Delta One seats significantly lower. When award prices are inflated, a contracted cash fare at $2,400-$3,400 round-trip is usually the better value - and you keep the miles.
