Air Tahiti Nui Business Class review

Air Tahiti Nui's Poerava Business on the 787-9, the Los Angeles-Papeete non-stop that is the main US route to Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea, and how to book it with American or Alaska miles.

The 60-second verdict

  • ✓The non-stop to Tahiti. Air Tahiti Nui flies Los Angeles-Papeete non-stop in about eight hours, the simplest Business Class routing to French Polynesia for a honeymoon or island trip.
  • ✓Lie-flat on every flight. All four of its 787-9s have 30 Poerava Business seats that convert to beds of about 78 inches, with a divider between seats.
  • ✓Bookable with US miles. American and Alaska are partners, so AAdvantage and Alaska Atmos Rewards can book Poerava Business when award space is released.
  • !2-2-2 layout. Window passengers step over a neighbor and there are no doors. Couples usually like the paired seats; solo travelers should take an aisle.

Poerava Business on the 787-9

Air Tahiti Nui flies four Boeing 787-9s, each with 30 Poerava Business seats in five rows of 2-2-2. The seats recline into flat beds of about 198 cm (78 inches), with a privacy divider between paired seats but no direct aisle access from the windows and no doors.

US route and onward islands

Los Angeles is Air Tahiti Nui's only US gateway: about eight hours to Papeete, with the same aircraft continuing from Los Angeles to Paris. Seattle service ended in January 2026. From Papeete, domestic flights and ferries reach Bora Bora, Moorea and the other islands, so we build the onward leg into the itinerary.

Lounges and miles

At Los Angeles, Poerava Business passengers use the Star Alliance Lounge in the Tom Bradley International Terminal. Air Tahiti Nui's own program is Club Tiare; US travelers more often book its Business seats with American AAdvantage or Alaska Atmos Rewards, and American codeshares on the Los Angeles-Papeete flight.
