Iberia Business Class review
Iberia Business on the A350, A330 and A321XLR: flat beds with direct aisle access (doors on the newest A350s), Madrid hub strength for South America and Africa connections, and Oneworld access via American AAdvantage and Avios.

- Madrid as a Latin America bridge. Iberia operates the most Madrid-Latin America Business Class flights of any carrier (daily to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Lima, Bogota, Mexico City, plus most major capitals). US-MAD-South America is often the cheapest one-stop Business routing.
- Flat beds and aisle access on every long-haul seat. Every long-haul Business seat has direct aisle access and makes a flat bed up to 198 cm (78 inches). The newest A350s have a staggered seat with a door; older A350s and the A330s have a doorless staggered seat; the A321XLR on Boston, Newark and Washington has 14 inward-facing herringbone seats. Iberia plans a new Business product and cabin retrofit in 2027.

- Cabins due for a 2027 refresh. Iberia's service is well regarded (Skytrax named it Best Airline Staff Service in Europe for 2026), but doors are only on the newest A350s until the long-haul retrofit and new Business product arrive in 2027. Menus are Spanish-influenced, with new long-haul menus introduced in July 2026.
The Business cabin (A350, A330 + A321XLR)
Iberia flies Business Class on the A350-900, A330-200, A330-300 and the narrow-body A321XLR. Every long-haul Business seat has direct aisle access and converts to a flat bed up to 198 cm (78 inches) long.
The newest A350-900s, delivered from late 2022, have a Recaro staggered seat with a door, and the center pairs have an automatic divider. Older A350s (the first arrived in June 2018) and the A330s have a doorless staggered Safran seat. The A321XLR, which flies Boston, Newark and Washington, has 14 inward-facing herringbone seats with 18-inch 4K screens and no doors. Verify the aircraft on the quote.
Iberia plans a new Business Class product and a long-haul cabin retrofit in 2027, its centenary year, with the design still to be unveiled. Iberia also sells Premium Economy on its A350s and A330-300s.
Madrid hub and Latin America bridge
Madrid (MAD) is Iberia's sole hub and the most-developed Spain-Latin America Business Class hub in Europe. From Madrid, Iberia operates Business Class to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, Bogota, Mexico City, Havana, Quito, plus broader Latin American capitals. For US-Latin America Business Class connections, US-MAD-South America is often the cheapest one-stop routing and provides a half-day Madrid layover option for travelers who want it.
Onward to Africa, Iberia operates Madrid-Cairo, Madrid-Casablanca, Madrid-Marrakech, Madrid-Tel Aviv, plus West African capitals. In Asia, Iberia flies its own nonstop Madrid-Tokyo route and codeshares with China Southern.
Avios currency: Iberia Club vs British Airways Club
Iberia Club (called Iberia Plus until June 2025) and British Airways Club use the same Avios, which you can move between the two programs; Avios moved this way are reportedly held for 90 days. Iberia's own chart prices Business one-way from New York, Boston or Chicago to Madrid at 40,500 Avios off-peak or 59,000 peak, and from Los Angeles or Miami at 50,500 or 74,000. Iberia-operated awards carry lower surcharges than BA awards, and Iberia.com charges no award booking fee.
For Iberia metal awards specifically, Iberia Club is usually the better redemption. For BA metal awards, book through British Airways Club. The Avios sharing means you can build a balance in one program and shift to the other based on the specific award.
Transferable currencies: Chase Ultimate Rewards transfers 1:1 directly to Iberia Club, usually instantly. Amex Membership Rewards and Capital One transfer to British Airways Club, and you can then move the Avios to Iberia Club.
Madrid-Barajas T4S premium experience
Iberia operates from Madrid-Barajas Terminal 4 Satellite (T4S), a separate satellite terminal accessed by an underground train from the main T4. US- and Latin America-bound Business passengers use the Premium Lounge Velazquez at T4S, a long lounge with floor-to-ceiling apron views, buffets and bars, six showers and nap cubicles. Iberia's newer Sorolla lounge in T4, opened in September 2026, is for top-tier members on short- and medium-haul flights, so it is not part of a US Business ticket.
For travelers connecting US-MAD-South America, the layover at T4S is comfortable. Onward gates are within 5-10 minute walks. Connection time at MAD is typically 1.5-2.5 hours; reliable.
